Dr. Graham came in tonight and had a good coversation with Janelle and I about what he thinks is going on. He ultimately thinks that because the bowel is so enlarged and distended that it not really functional. An example he used was if you take a balloon and blow it to its max and then bend it, it kinks, but if some of the air is out and you bend it again, you form a loop. This is his theory and it by all acounts makes perfect sense.
Tomororrow, I am having CT scan #3 and then at the same time a procudure where they inject dye into the stoma and they are looking to see where these meet up. Believe it or not, this wil be a new one for me. After that, we will have a scope on Wednesday and if all goes well a new PICC line put in for the more long term TPN.
The ultimate plan is to have me come home from the hospital still on TPN giving my distended bowel time to heal and reduce in size. Not 100 percent sure of the diet details but we will cross that bridge when we get there. Then after a determined amount of time or milestones, I should be able to get off the TPN and begin reworking my diet. Again, questions I do not have answers for at this momenet but will soon.
